One of the many things I love about the bridal world is the ability to create your own kind of beauty. From helping brides bring their look together, to our gallery of curated gowns, to how we design our store, the possibilities to create something unique is endless and I absolutely love that. Then I was introduced to styled bridal shoots and it quickly became one of my favorite forms of creating art with some very talented people who I now call friends. And this is when magic happens and it did so on this foggy, wintery day in the city. I am excited to share with you some behind the scenes images of this day. I have said this many times before but I truly believe that when you surround yourself with beauty, more beauty comes from it and this is just another example of that. So grateful to have been a part of this amazing team of creatives, for their passion and heart. Be sure to visit Style Me Pretty for the full feature!
This holiday season, we can't help but be so grateful for all the moments we have shared with our L&B brides and guests. Truly, something we can't explain in words but fills us with so much joy and to be able to be a part of such special moments really means so much! We wish for many more happy moments and for everyone who has become a part of our L&B family a blessed holiday and new year full of endless possibilities. Merry Christmas from all of us at L&B! xoxo
Going to "Market" has always been one of my favorite things to do back from my apparel buying days for department stores to bridal fashion today with Lace & Bustle. It's a great time to connect with the designers and see what their vision is and what direction the trends are going as a whole.
However, trends to me have always been something I look to for inspiration but not to take so literal- especially when it comes to wedding dresses and especially since our selection is a very timeless look so our interpretation of a trend is one that we think would look lovely today and 10 years down the road. After market, I love to go back to the store, review, reflect, and work on an assortment that I think would be best for our brides.
The trend that really had us swooning this past bridal fashion week could be summed up in one word- texture! This season's collections presented very unique laces, embroidery, and beadwork very different than we had seen before. It was very whimsical in feel and had an airiness to it that made it seem like a page out of a storybook. Touches of blush and champagne continued to be present in most stories and 3D appliques made our hearts skip a beat. We can't hardly wait to bring touches of this inspiration back to L&B and hear from our brides on what they love the most. These gowns are a must see and a must to twirl in!
Take a peek at some of our photos from market along with a visit to the Empire State Building and a delicious strawberry martini from Serafina (a NYC must)! xo, your ladies at L&B
Your dress should fit you like a glove. Measurements should be taken with great care and an experienced tailor or seamstress to work on perfecting the fit on you is a must! Have any other questions? Ask away in comments below and we will answer them! :)
#10: Give Yourself Plenty of Time
When setting your wedding date, keep in mind that most gowns have a 4 month production lead time. That means you should start shopping for your gown 6 months prior to your wedding date to give yourself plenty of shopping time as well as time for alterations. This will give you piece of mind that all is on schedule and avoid last minute rush fees.
#9: Make an Appointment
This is a special occasion, so make sure you have an appointment so that the dress shop can dedicate that time to you and only you.
#8: Choose Your Shopping Squad Wisely!
Having an entourage may sound like a great idea, but bring only your closest family and friends whose opinion you value. Although you may want to have more loved ones at your appointment, sometimes having too many opinions can cloud your own.
#7: Eat and Hydrate!
It takes a lot of energy to shop for a wedding dress so make sure you have your Wheaties and stay hydrated throughout the day to ensure you are feeling great with plenty of stamina!
#6: Get to Pinning!
I don’t think you should spend too much time researching bridal gowns online because it should be an organic process, but having a Pinterest board with styles that have caught your eye will be a great way to communicate what you like to a bridal stylist.
#5: Special Requests
If there is a dress that has caught your interest, ask the store ahead of time if they carry it or if they can get the sample in prior to your appointment.
#4: Ignore Dress Sizing
Wedding dresses run small so don’t worry when the size is not your typical dress size. What matters most is how well the dress fits you and that you feel amazing when you walk down the aisle!
#3: Glam It Up!
To help you feel your best while wedding dress shopping, get a little glammed up! Add a bit of lip gloss, blush, or curl your hair if that is the look you are going for on your wedding day.
#2: Go With Your Gut
At the end of the day, it’s what YOU feel amazing in that will make your day even more special. You will know it’s The One when you can’t stop thinking, dreaming, and talking about that one dress. That’s when the dress has actually chosen you!
#1: Enjoy the Moment
This should really be a fun and memorable moment in your wedding journey, and one that brings you one step closer to your special day with your lucky groom! Leave your worries behind and enjoy the shopping process, you will look amazing in which ever dress you choose!
Your Lace & Bustle Ladies~
A couple of months ago I had the sweetest dream. It was full of layers upon layers of luscious tulle, gorgeous blooms from an enchanted garden, a beautiful girl who spoke with her eyes, and a team of 6 powerful women who could conquer it all. Funny thing was, it wasn't a dream at all... it was as real as could be! Sharing with you images of that day that captured everything that Lace & Bustle represents. True Beauty.
